Zellsis temporarily suspended from VCT Stage 3 qualifiers

Version1 player Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro will not be able to play the open qualifier and main event of Challengers One.

This is the direct result of an official competitive ruling from VALORANT esports and Riot Games.

Zellsis violated rule 7.1.2. of the Global Competition Policy. That rule stipulates that players “observe the highest standards of personal integrity and good sportsmanship at all times”.

Montemurro broke the policy on May 28, during VCT Masters Reykjavik. According to Riot, Zellsis “made a categorically offensive and discriminatory remark about a tournament official”.

The player took to Twitter to apologize saying: “I take responsibility for my actions and will learn from this mistake. I’m sorry to my teammates for putting them in this position. I will be better”.

Version1 announced they would not be disputing the ruling and said they would be playing with a substitute for the first open and closed qualifiers of stage 3 of VCT.

Zellsis now finds himself on thin ice, as a repeat offense, or another infraction could result in a longer suspension or even losing prize money and VCT circuit points.

Version1 already played with a substitute in Reykjavik, adding Jamal “jammyz” Bangash to temporarily replace Maxim “wippie” Shepelov, who was unable to travel. It is unclear if the American organization is looking at jammyz again to sub.

Jammyz would be the logical choice, as he already has experience and chemistry with the team.
