A rebrand might be coming to EA Sports popular football simulation. On October 1 the developer and publisher registered a new trademark in the UK, which might become the series’ new name.

The Intellectual Property Office is the agency in charge of patents for the UK. A new trade mark was registered there at the start of the month: “EA Sports FC”
Is that the potential new name for FIFA?
Last week EA Sports first mentioned that they are considering a rebrand for their FIFA series which was launched in 1994 and has gone on to become one of the most successful sports games. EA has apparently also filed the same trademark in mainland Europe.
EA Sports and FIFA still have a contract lasting until December 31st 2022 and a rebrand does not seem that unlikely with the current timeframe.
