Will Team Secret dominate? – DPC EUW 2022 Preview

No more secrets

Just like it has been for many years now, Team Secret once again looks like potentially the most dangerous team in division 1. While needing to leave Zai and Matumbaman behind, they have found more than capable players to fill those giant shoes. As the king of the midlane himself, Sumail, will join Puppey’s star studded squad. Especially with a veteran offlaner like IceIceIce completing the roster, it looks like the team has a good season ahead of them.

Their competition however, hasn’t slept either. As the place Zai and Matumbaman ended up is at our good friends of Team Liquid. Where Insania decided that the team that had been together for so long, might finally benefit from some change. Zai and Matumbaman will be replacing Taiga and Qojqva. Now giving Team Liquid some of that much needed star power, the squad might be a very formidable challenger this season.

New Blood and long-term commitment

Alliance and OG however took it one step further. Alliance replaced the majority of their squad and introduced some lesser known new blood into the team as Aramis, Supream and Leslão joined the Swedish organisation. OG going even further, as they have replaced every single player on the roster. Standout name in this new roster is the Jordanian offlaner, ATF. Having honed their skills in the same Jordanian LAN café where gods like Miracle- and Yapzor honed theirs. ATF is known for showing off incredible mechanical skill from the offlane. OG might end up being a lot more dangerous than what one would expect from new blood this season.

Nigma and Tundra Esports, while not attending TI, looked to be on fire in the weeks just before the big championship. Having identified this strength both teams have decided not to make any changes to their roster. While rumors indicate that Nigma have been trying out different players like Gabbi to potentially replace ILTW, none of them could compete with the Russian game grinder. All while Tundra esports have signed a contract with the organization for multiple years, indicating a long term commitment to their current roster.

Dark Horses

No Dota competition is complete without it’s dark horses. In the EUW division 1 DPC it will be Team Tickles and COOLGUYS fulfilling this role. Team Tickles being the new iteration of its captain, Seleri, and its coach, Immortalfaith, that started with last year’s Vikin.gg.

While COOLGUYS is made up of older players that have not been quite able to reach the top for multiple years now, such as Funn1k who used to be known for playing with Na’Vi in the legendary TI3 Grand Final, but is now more often known for his amazing Moonlord copypasta where he stated that every player in the world apart from him was terrible.
