Why don’t some fans want TheBaus on the LEC broadcast?

The notorious EU streamer will be making his debut on the LEC broadcast, but not everyone is happy.

Ever since the departure of multiple casters, such as Christy “Ender” Frierson and Indiana “Froskurinn” Black, the LEC has rotated new talent routinely. Alex “Machine” Richardson and Georgia “Troubleinc” Paras have made appearances alongside countless other new casters and analysts. A popular streamer, Simon “TheBausffs” Hofverberg, has been announced as a part of the broadcast for week six.

TheBausffs’ inclusion in the LEC broadcast has sparked controversy amongst fans and community figures alike. Longtime LCS caster Isaac “Azael” CB expressed that it’s “disrespectful” to aspiring casters to add someone as a caster simply because they are a popular streamer. Other players, such as Hampus “promisq” Abrahamsson and Elias “Upset” Lipp echoed the sentiment and cited TheBausffs’ sometimes volatile play in soloqueue.

Advocates, such as Jackson “Pabu” Pavone, stated that audiences have enjoyed the growing number of personalities being included onto professional broadcasts. The number of streamers entering the professional side of esports has grown in recent years. Perhaps most revelantly, former pro and current Cloud9 streamer, Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera, made an appearance on the English LPL broadcast as a caster himself.

Many have argued whether it is disrespectful to casters to include this popular streamer, or if it is disrespectful to TheBausffs to assume his level of knowledge and professionalism. It is important to note that two other professional casters will be joining the team for week six. Both Jake “Hiprain” Matthews and Adrian “Jamada” Wharlton-Throne, freelance casters, will also be on the broadcast.
