Wave of sexual assault accusations in Smash Bros. scene continues

The esports scene at large has been dealing with a wave of allegations regarding sexual harassment and similar abject behaviour. However, one could argue no scene has been hit as hard as the Smash Bros scene.

The most extreme example, which is still in development in terms of information being released, is that of Sky Williams. Becoming famous as a League of Legends content creator, he became part of the Smash scene in 2014 when he started letting people stay at his house at the time (which would become the first of several). It has come to light that these houses became a breeding ground for a lot of the sexual misconduct within the scene. In conjunction to that, Williams has been accused of borrowing tens of thousands of dollars from a variety of people close to him, including League of Legends shoutcaster Nick ‘LS’ de Cesare.

Another major accusation, albeit with less twists and turns, are those against Juan “HungryBox” DeBiedMa, a player for Team Liquid known for his Jigglypuff. Being accused of harassment and objectification, the player has been forward in accepting the accusations and trying to engage a dialogue, as seen on his Twitter.
