Version1 enters VALORANT’s Game Changers initiative with their all-women’s team

Earlier today, Version1 announced its fourth professional esports roster and second in VALORANT. VersionX is V1’s all-women’s VALORANT team that will begin competing in Riot Games’ Game Changers roster. The Game Changers initiative works to provide a pathway for marginal communities to enter the esports space.

Game Changers has been successful across both League of Legends and VALORANT. Cloud9 White, Cloud9’s all-women VALORANT team, has competed at high levels in the VCT and land within the top 20 of all North American teams. Game Changers will begin its own league this weekend, featuring 32 teams competing in the open qualifier. The advancing 8 teams will face off in a double-elimination bracket for the Game Changers Championship title.

VersionX are the latest team into the fray. The team includes Kiara “Milkyway” Makua, Natalia “Natty” Jackson, Rachel “Rush” Hang, Katherine “Karra” Lee, and Naomi “Naomi” Sauvola. Many of the players in this new roster are veterans of either the VALORANT or CS:GO scene and appear as early contenders in the Game Changers tournament.

IGL and Team Captain, Milkyway, stated shortly after the team was announced “Our goal is to be the top female team in VALORANT and we know that with hard work, that will come” and that being together in the official Version1 facility in Minnesota has immensely helped the team in their preparation. You check the team out in-action starting this weekend as VersionX will see their first competitive game in the VCT Game Changers open qualifier.
