Fourth map added: Ascent

Riot has added a fourth map to the existing pool. Ascent is “a map set in Italy that features a large, open middle area that both teams can skirmish over.” Control of the central part of the map is essential to either open up or prevent additional angles of attack against the sites.

Current map Split has also been slightly adjusted. The chokepoint in mid has been widened significantly to make it easier for attackers to contest and eventually take over that part of the map.

Adjustments to Agents

Besides the new addition of Reyna to the roster the other agents have also been adjusted. Noteworthy are further nerfs to Raze and Sage, while Jett got several buffs. Riot continues to closely monitor balance between the agents.

Spike Rush introduced

Riot also introduced a new game mode to VALORANT. The new mode is focused on fast-paced action and caters to more casual players. The shorter matches with abilities and weapons readily available will also make it and ideal warm-up mode.

Ranked matchmaking is also disabled for now as Riot wants players to have a grasp on the game before launching its competitive mode.

Episode 1 Ignition kicks off

Accompanying the launch will be the first Battle Pass for VALORANT, named “Episode 1: Ignition”. 50 tiers of rewards and unlocks are waiting for the players. While plenty of cosmetics can be grinded by the players gameplay will not be affected by any unlocks.

To access the Battle Pass, players need to purchase it ingame for 1000 VALORANT Points (roughly $10). Besides sprays and cards the highlight players will be aiming for 12 weapon skins and 130 Radianite Points equaling 6000 VALORANT Points.
