VALORANT: Agent 16 – What we know so far

VALORANT currently holds 15 different agents, but as we all know that number will be increasing soon as Riot Games is already working on agent 16. What do we know already?

One of the first things we found out about Agent 16 came through a leak by dataminers, who found the nickname ‘Grenadier’ hidden away in the code of the game, which reportedly is linked to the newest agent. We’ve seen this before, Riot using codenames for the agents they are working on, so it’s very plausible that the agent itself will release with an entirely different name. For now, the most likely release date is June 22, when Episode 3 Act 1 drops.

When it comes to the abilities of this upcoming agent, Riot has remained mostly silent so far, but talked a little more about it in one of their most recent blog posts. “This time around we are throwing in some abilities that should feel familiar to folks who’ve played traditional FPS games their whole lives, but with added elements that will make those recognizable abilities unique within our roster. This is an Agent who’s utility can create moments where you must rely on your gunplay.”

Knowing all this, it looks likely that the newest agent will feature some kind of explosive (abilities) and the text, which talks about gunplay, makes it look like we’ve potentially got another duelist (or sentinel) on our hands. Another possibility entirely is that Agent 16 will focus more on clearing and crashing bomb sites, which would lend itself well to the Grenadier codename.
