These four teams advanced to the main event of IEM Cologne

Day one of play-ins resulted in four teams entering the main event.

Ahead of IEM Cologne’s main event, day one of play-ins punched four team’s tickets. Ninjas In Pyjamas, Vitality, BIG, and FaZe Clan all made the cut. With four more open slots, tomorrow will decide the final brackets.

FaZe impress on LAN, are their online fears over?

FaZe Clan have suffered in the online era, facing multiple roster changes starting with the departure of Nikola “NiKo” Kovac. Despite these changes and near constant disappointing finishes, FaZe withstood the online era. FaZe’s two victories in the IEM Cologne Play-ins showed their strength on LAN.

One of NA’s finest riflers, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken had a spectacular showing as he found 37 total kills with a 82.4% KAST against Complexity. Moving onto the main event, this stacked roster may finally be able to show off their full potential.

Device finds success with his new squad

Nicolai “device” Reedtz made perhaps the biggest move of the year, and potentially his entire career, moving from Astralis to NIP. Individually, Device has performed incredibly well however the team has not been able to find trophies to accompany this success.

NIP may be turning a new page on the biggest stage of the year, finding two wins to qualify for the main event. As to be expected, Device shined in the first day, leading the team with 44 total frags against Mousesports.
