It is still early days for the competition in Riot’s mobile League of Legends but in Japan investors are already rearing to go. Telecommunications giant NTT DoCoMo has secured the rights for a Wild Rift league in 2021.

The Japanese scene has been very receptive for the recent Riot Games releases. VALORANT has a growing local scene and even has its own region in the ongoing VALORNAT First Strike tournament. With Wild Rift’s open beta active in Japan since October 27 the game has already gathered enough interest for DoCoMo to snag up the rights for a league in 2021.
It is still early days for Wild Rift but judging news like these a new esport forerunner in the mobile sector seems likely.
