How to Hit your Opponents over All Distances – Call of Duty Warzone Aiming Guide

Everyone has been in that situation: You see an opponent over 100 meters and start tapping to hit him precisely. He proceeds to turn around and empties half his magazine in your face. Is that possible without cheats? Of course it is.

The YouTuber JGOD explains how to improve our aim and tracking over a variety of distances.

Use the optimal sensitivity and FOV

Let’s begin with the basics in the game settings. Depending on the platform you are playing on, you can adjust your controller or mouse sensitivity. Often new players go for higher sensitivity, but that only helps you in rare cases in close combat. In most fights it will hinder your aim.

Make sure you experiment with the sliders until you find your own sweetspot. Especially with mouse and keyboard you can also quickly turn and react on low sensitivity once you have practiced it.

Another important setting is the Field of View (FOV). The recoil of your weapon is harder with a low FOV, you also see less of your surroundings. But the downside of a high FOV is that singular objects will appear smaller and be harder to hit. However this setting is only changeable on PC. Most players use a value between 100 and 110.

Get to know your weapons

This tip is the most important one for aiming over all distances. Each weapon has its own recoil that you need to control. Some just pull straight up, but other weapons (like the AMAX) also have horizontal recoil that make them harder to control

The recoil pattern of the AMAX from around 10 meters without attachments. Slightly to the left before turning right again like a banana.

So test the weapons in your loadouts and take a look at the patterns. Just shoot at an empty wall without moving your control stick or mouse. Memorize that pattern and trace it in reverse to stay on target while spraying.

Over longer distances it becomes even harder as you also have to adjust for the opponent’s movement. If your weapon sprays towards the left and your enemy does so at the same time you don’t need to adjust as much, but if he goes in the other direction you need to pull your weapon accordingly.

More Call of Duty:

In the end the key component to good aim is still practice. You could have the best weapons or loadouts, but without hitting your shots they would be worthless.
