Five players to watch at the VCT Stage 2 Masters

Two months of regional Challengers events have passed with over 2000 teams attempting to qualify. At the end of the road, only ten remained.

These ten teams will battle it out in Reykjavík, Iceland, starting Monday. Which players should you have an eye on?

1. Tyson “TenZ” Ngo – Sentinels

Some would say this is the most obvious pick out there, but nobody can argue the raw power that TenZ manages to bring to the field. This man plays like a machine, at a rapid pace he can lay down the law and get insane amounts of frags, channeling his history from playing shooters right into VALORANT. Back in the Closed Beta days, TenZ was actually the first player to reach Radiant rank. This should tell you enough about the sheer strength of this player.

If you want to see spectacular shots, insane reaction speed, and interesting duels, look at TenZ. He will provide you with top tier entertainment, and he might just get Sentinels the win.

2. Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom – Team Liquid

Now I will happily admit that as a Belgian myself, I would love to see ScreaM defend the pride of my country. That aside, this man is legendary. The quote “They talk about my one taps” exists for a reason. ScreaM is known for pinpoint accuracy. He will destroy any opponent that dares face him with a clean one tap, Vandal in hand. If you want to see how someone can shoot with the precision of a robot, turn your eyes to Team Liquid and ScreaM. You might just see the most insane shots of the entire tournament happen.

ScreaM is a guaranteed player to keep tabs on for methodical and surgical play. If he plays as he should he will be a very fierce opponent for Sentinels and other teams to deal with.

3. Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev – Fnatic

The consistent factor for Fnatic, top fragging very consistently to usually end up at the top of the leaderboard. Only recently acquired by the team back in April 2021, he has already proven himself time and time again, and could very well be the secret ingredient Fnatic has been searching for, along with Magnum. Since Derke joined the team Fnatic has experienced a steep but incredible rise to the top. The ratings prove this, even if they recently experienced a slight dink from a defeat against Team Liquid.

Derke has been performing exceptionally since he joined Fnatic. This tournament is his chance to reaffirm that consistent greatness. Look to Derke to see the man at the top of the leaderboard in whichever match he might play.

4. Erik “penny” Penny – Version1

Another consistent factor who always comes out on top. Penny is not quite the new hire Derke might be, but his run with Version1 has not been that long-lived either. Joining up back in early February this year, he swiftly proved himself to the team. Nowadays you see penny rocking the leaderboard time and time again. He does this in a clean and calculated manner, fulfilling the role of Duelist on the team, knowing how to play various of the agents.

The agent you seen him shine most as is Jett with almost 75% usage rate; keep your eyes peeled when he has his ultimate ready to see the knives fly by, nailing enemies down relentlessly and eliminating them with cold efficiency.

5. Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi – Team Vikings

Brazilian power. If there is something you can expect from Brazilian players, it’s that trademark wildness. Sacy rocks some insane aim as well, hitting some absurd shots at times. Yet Sacy is also a sort of stable factor. His role as Initiator in the team, playing Sova and only Sova, is essential. He has demonstrated time and time again that he knows the perfect timing for his abilities, mastering the ultimate just as much and playing it at just the right moments.

You will have to be a fan of Sova if you are going to keep your tabs on Sacy, but he will most certainly not disappoint. His dynamic with the team is beautiful to watch, but his strength as a player on his own should not be underestimated either.

Following these players in the tournament will without a doubt provide countless hours of entertainment. The plays should be legendary, as is the stage they are playing on. Be sure to tune in and keep an eye on these masters of the game.
