Can anyone beat Gambit in the Blast Premier Spring Finals? – BIG and Natus Vincere appear as contenders

After the second day of the Blast Premier Spring Finals, Evil Geniuses saw themselves drop out while BIG and Natus Vincere advanced.

Gambit looked strong in the first day of the Blast Premier Spring Finals, coming fresh off their recent IEM Summer 2021 Championship. Ranked first in the world, in their current form Gambit seems unstoppable. Did the second day of the games produce any worthy contenders for the CIS super squad?

Natus Vincere look to return to glory

Undoubtedly, it must feel unusual to the Navi players to be the second horse out of the CIS. The historically dominant roster coming out of the same region have normally held a firm grip of their region. Gambit usurped Navi not only domestically, but internationally as well. Navi’s victory over FaZe today bodes well for the squad and their hopeful return to glory.

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s individual performance is almost inseparable from the team’s overall success. In the three map series, s1mple put on a classic performance, finding 69 total frags, 82.7 ADR, and ending with a 71.8% KAST. Though s1mple’s play was awe inspiring, we will have to see if his backing cast can keep up.

BIG upset G2 2-1

Berlin International Gaming has waned in and out of the top ten for most of the year. From event to event, though the team has shown glimpses of greatness, their performance has largely been inconsistent. Day two of the Blast Premier Spring Final showed that on days the roster shows up, BIG can be a threat.

Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dorkades were integral to the two BIG victories that bookended this series. Facing off against Natus Vincere in their next series, BIG will certainly have to clean up their mistakes, but could be an unlikely contender.
