Activision Blizzard shareholders call for change in open letter to the company

Activision Blizzard has been under fire lately, not only due to the lawsuit they face from the California Department of Fair Employment, but also from their shareholders. Now investment group SOC has released an open letter through Dieter Waizeneggar, their executive director. The letter is directed at the Lead Independent Director over at Activision Blizzard, Robert J. Morgado.

According to the open letter, Activision Blizzard hasn’t gone far enough in their efforts to address their internal issues regarding inclusion and sexism. “While we appreciate the improved tone and increased detail in CEO Kotick’s recent letter to Activision Blizzard
employees, customers, and shareholders, the changes Mr. Kotick has announced do not go nearly far enough to address the deep and widespread issues with equity, inclusion, and human capital management at the company”

They go on to name multiple changes Activision Blizzard should commit to, such as increasing board diversity, cut back on executive bonuses and undertaking a company-wide equity review. “At this critical juncture in Activision Blizzard’s history, we urge you and the board to push beyond the inadequate response from management and take the steps necessary to protect our investment from the financial, operational, and reputational risks that have come to the fore over the past week,“ The letter says.
