Rumor: Romain Bigeard set to act as G2’s new League of Legends general manager

Sources from Dot Esports have rumored that Romain Bigeard will join the G2 League of Legends team for their highly anticipated roster rebuild. Bigeard is set to act as the team’s general manager. If this rumor proves true, this will be the third organization he will GM for, previous positions being at Unicorns of Love and OpTic Gaming.

After making the move to North America following his tenure at Unicorns of Love, Romain Bigeard pursued a spot at Riot Games. Bigeard served as a business development manager and on-stage talent ever since 2018. In a recent memo sent by Riot Europe, it was released that Bigeard would be departing the company.

Supposedly, Bigeard will join G2 alongside his former high up at Riot, Alban Dechelotte. G2 now notoriously bombed out of their 2021 season after building a supposed ‘super team’ with the addition of Martin “Rekkles” Larsen. The time failed to win either domestic LEC split or represent the LEC internationally.

Recent, Carlos “Ocelote” Santiago announced that G2 is looking to sell off five members of the 2021 roster and support staff. This massive offloading included Wunder, Rekkles, Mikyx, Grabbz, and Nelson. G2’s offseason will be a top down restructuring built around their middle lane and jungle duo.

Undoubtedly, Bigeard will have a tall task in front of him. The ecstatic and eccentric League of Legends personality will fit into the G2 culture, and hopefully provide some guidance in G2’s offseason journey.
