Riot Games details plans to tackle toxicity in VALORANT

Toxicity in VALORANT (and League of Legends for that matter) has been a long-standing issue, as Riot Games is planning to tackle the issue going forward, offering up some possible solutions.

In a Reddit post, Riot’s Ian “Brighteyez” Fielding talked a little more about Riot’s plans to tackle toxicity within VALORANT and the steps they want to take. “We will be preventing players who have been penalized with chat and voice restrictions from playing rank in the next two to three patches. We are actively working on the tech, it’s taking a little longer than anticipated, but we are committed to building it.” This way toxic players will be knocked out of ranked play.

Fielding acknowledges the need for communications, especially in higher level play, they want to protect those who are not comfortable using their voice. “We don’t want to make it a requirement that you have to use voice comms in rank, but we DO understand that having players that have already proven they can be highly disruptive, with active restrictions, in your rank games feels unfair. We want to prevent that from happening in the near future.

It’s expected that Riot Games will release more information on their techniques and the new technology they’ll be using to fight against toxicity later on in Season 2. Riot Games has recently been tackling these kind of issues more and more, such as changes to chat and penalizing AFK’ers more harshly.
