Overwatch League might lose Coca-Cola as a sponsor following Activision Blizzard lawsuit

In a report made by The Washington Post, it’s noted that both Coca-Cola and State Farm, which are two of the biggest sponsors of the Overwatch League, might be pulling out in the near future with the current lawsuit as the biggest motivator. If two of their biggest sponsors actually do decide to pull out, it could have huge repercussions for the health of the Overwatch League and the competitive scene as a whole.

Coca-Cola said in a statement that they are “working with partners at Blizzard” and that they will be stepping back to “revisit future plans and programs”. On the side of State Farm, a similar statement was made, with them deciding to pull their ads as they evaluate the relationship between State Farm and the Overwatch League.

Coca-Cola and State Farm pulling out couldn’t come at a worse time, as earlier this week it was already announced that another big sponsor, namely T-Mobile, would be pulling out of both the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League. It’ll be interesting to see how the situation continues to evolve and if the OWL and CDL are healthy enough to bounce back following the loss of some major sponsors.
