Nintendo announce prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

In last year’s Nintendo Direct, the Zelda developers teased the development of a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now they have also announced a prequel.

The new game is called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and will launch on November 20th. It will show the events of the Great Calamity that took place a hundred years prior to those of Breath of the Wild.

While Age of Calamity will be a sequel to earlier Hyrule Warriors games developed by KOEI TECMO Games gameplay-wise, the developers kept exchanging information with Nintendo’s Zelda team.

Playable fighters will be Link, Zelda, Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa and Revali.

The new game will feature Hyrule Warriors’ classic 1 vs 1000-battles and allow the player to experience the events of the Great Calamity first-hand, since Breath of the Wild left out quite a few details on that part of the story.

Zelda development chief Eiji Aonuma also made clear that the sequel to Breath of the Wild is still in development. Since Nintendo is working hard on improving the already beloved first game, which takes them a lot of time. Because of that, there are still no further details about the game.
