After the first two days of the Rumble Stage, the early favorites have largely maintained their lead while Cloud9 has fallen behind.
Entering into the second phase of MSI 2021, some teams have been able to keep momentum while others have fallen off. With only 3 days until the end of the Rumble Stage, the bottom teams are skirmishing to make the playoff cut.
What’s happening with Cloud9
Cloud9 has had an incredibly inconsistent MSI 2021 performance. After finishing their group stage with an impressive 4-0 run, the NA representatives followed by starting 0-4 in the group stage. Though plagued with countless issues, both individually and collectively, Cloud9’s objective control throughout early and late game have been their primary detriment.
Blaber has struggled to find success with the same proactive jungling style that has earned him two LCS MVPs. A one-off misplay that has turned into a haunting theme for C9 is their priority of scuttle crab.
Since starting the Rumble Stage, Cloud9 has ranked 9th in dragon control (39%), herald control (38%), and baron control (33%). The fact that C9 has been unable to gain any ground on early or late game objectives allows them almost no way back into the game when put in a losing position.
MAD Lions poised to be a contender
Adversely, MAD Lions have maintained a consistent level of performance that has them poised to compete with the likes of Damwon Kia and RNG. MAD Lions have largely been the best team fighting squad in the Rumble Stage thus far. Tied for the second highest combined KPM (0.85), MAD Lions herald the second highest KD (1.55). This means that MAD Lions not only take a lot of fights, but end up winning a significant margin of their skirmishes.
Carzzy has largely led MAD Lion’s efforts in the Rumble Stage. MAD’s ADC currently leads in overall kills (22) and has posted an incredible DPM (682). Forced to play weakside for most of the LEC playoffs, Carzzy seems to have been unshackled and unlocked as MAD’s primary win condition.
