Valve will have to go and look for a different location to host their biggest Dota 2 tournament, as the Swedish Esports Association announced it won’t be taking place in Sweden.
Valve announced earlier this week that they might possibly be exploring different locations for The International 10, as they ran into issues with the Swedish government that could hinder players and staff to get their visa when travelling. That statement has now been proven correct, as the Swedish Esports Association has come out to say TI10 won’t take place in Sweden. “We’ve been in contact with Valve who have announced that the plans for The International 10 and Stockholm have fallen through. More info to come.”
UPPDATERING: Vi har nu fått kontakt med Valve som meddelar att de inte kommer fullfölja planerna med The International i Stockholm.
Mer information kommer.

The Swedish Esports Association and Valve worked together to fix the issue, but ultimately it didn’t work out. The final decision by the Swedish government was met with criticism from some notable esports personalities, such as Alliance CEO Jonathan “Loda” Berg. This does mean Valve will be looking for a different country to host The International 10, but it’s currently still unclear where that’ll be. There are already some countries that threw their hat in the ring however.
It’s also unclear what this means for the PGL CS:GO Major which is also scheduled to take place in Stockholm in October. In an earlier statement, Valve already said they still plan to have the event in Sweden.
