Earlier this week many Super Smash Bros. fans were left baffled as Nintendo decided to pull out of EVO 2022, meaning there wouldn’t be any of their competitions at the iconic EVO tournament. This was especially a big blow to the Smash Bros. community, as EVO has played host to many of the most interesting matches and history within the competitive scene of the game, leaving many fans wondering what’s next.
EVO released a statement on the situation, giving more insight into what’s happening. “We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year, we hope to once again celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community alongside them.” Content creator and streamer Ludwig took to Twitter however and assured fans that a solution might be coming. He responded to EVO’s statement by saying “don’t worry smasher, I’ve got you.”

Ludwig is no stranger to the Smash Bros. scene and is a big fan, having run an event on his own back in January featuring a livestream and a cash prize. Back then he promised to be more active within the Smash Bros. scene with bigger and better tournaments to come, which has left fans excited to see what’s next. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s likely we’ll see Ludwig at least set up something around Smash in the upcoming weeks.
