Invictus Gaming win Singapore Major after thriller against Evil Geniuses

The Dota 2 Singapore Major 2021 has come to a close and it was Invictus Gaming who eventually snagged away the title from Evil Geniuses.

For Dota 2 fans, the Singapore Major was an amazing breath of fresh air. Despite the fact that a lot of teams weren’t operating at full strength due to having to use stand-ins following COVID-19 issues, it was still great to see everyone compete once more in a LAN environment. After an intensive tournament featuring Wild Card, Group and playoff stage, Invictus Gaming took home the crown.

Things never came easy for Invictus Gaming during the Major however, as they dealt with looming threats in the form of Thunder Predator (one of the biggest surprises of the tournament), Secret and PSG.LGD. Things eventually culminated in a final against Evil Geniuses, the team that had sent them on their lower bracket run after a 2-0 series in Upper Bracket round 2.

Things actually started off on the wrong foot as EG took home the first two games in relatively quick fashion. What followed was an insane tug-of-war, as Invictus Gaming put their foot down to reverse sweep the North American favorites with three very close and drawn-out matches. As the winners IG will take home $200.000 worth of prize money, alongside 500 DPC points.
