How the TI10 Western Europe Qualifier is turning into a bloodbath

Sixteen of the eighteen spots have already been given out in the biggest esports event ever. One of these spots will be claimed by the winner of the western european qualifier.

With so many teams battling it out for one single spot, it is bound to become a bloodbath.

From hero to zero

Ever since Team Liquid won TI7 it has only been western european teams that have claimed victory at The International, during TI9 we even witnessed a WEU vs WEU grand final. This year however, such a fate seems unlikely at best. It seems that over the past few months the region has severely been shitting the bed.

As a result only Team Secret and Alliance were able to claim a direct invitation to the biggest esports event in history. While great names like Team Nigma, OG and Team Liquid all have to fight it out together, to determine who will claim that last opportunity, for TI glory

Believe in Kuro

Team Nigma performed surprisingly well at the last major in Kyiv. They dominated in the wild card and the subsequent group stage. However, during the playoffs they fought maybe the greatest team in the world right now, PSG.LGD. The chinese roster figured out Team Nigma’s playstyle with ease, causing other teams to take note of the massacre. Ever since the team looks shaky, unable to find a new angle of attack. They will need to really rely on all of Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi’s expertise to lead them through these qualifiers.

Believe in the king

OG has recently lost their biggest star Anathan “ana” Pham to have him replaced with the king himself, Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan. Having the youngest player to ever win a TI on your team might exactly be the blessing the team needs right now. As OG, while having the star power and legacy, have not shown any good results at all so far. Not even qualifying for a single major in the past season, all  thestars need to align for them to return to TI and defend their title.

Believe in each other

Team Liquid is a team of the highest highs, and the lowest lows. Due to their unorthodox playstyle you never quite know what to expect from the team, but when it works they can possibly beat any team in the world. To make it work however they will need all the focus the team can get.

With reports indicating that they recently lost an entire night’s sleep due to a malfunctioning alarm at their bootcamp, that focus might be hard to find. Luckily the team is known for strong family bond though, so if they can lift eachother up, who knows how far they can get.

Danger from the shadows

While these three teams might be the favourites, there are many more potential teams looking for that last TI spot. Dark horses like Vikin.gg and Tundra Esports have the potential to win it all if they can find their form and surprise the favorites. This means that every team in the qualifier has to look out for everything at any moment. For one slip up can cost you these qualifiers, and with that a shot at that 40.000.000 dollar prize pool.
