Heroic allegedy created NDAs to stop information about cheating from leaking

Esports journalist for Dextero, Richard Lewis, reported that he had received documentation that shows that the Danish esports organization, Heroic, forced players to sign NDAs. These Non-disclosure agreements prevented players from speaking out about the alleged cheating and bug exploitation used months ago. This contract supposedly would have worked to silence players for the next 15 years.

Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen initially claimed sole responsibility for the exploitation and faced significance consequences in terms of competitive bans. Recent comments from HUNDEN alleged that players were aware of the glitch and the team’s intent to use it in competitive play. Lewis went on to state the team planned on using HUNDEN to take ‘a bullet’ for Heroic.

HUNDEN supposedly used the bug twice, first at DreamHack Malmo and then at Home Sweet Home #5. It was not long after this that Petersen confessed his guilt to the ESIC. Though initially HUNDEN stated he acted alone, if these documents are true then it is apparent that the entire organization had planned on using the bug. HUNDEN was slated for a year-long ban but remained on the Heroic organization.

The NDA leaked by Lewis prevented any players from addressing the allegations, levying a $500,000 fine for breaking the contract. The NDA would also last until 2035. No official response has been made by Heroic or ESIC, and is not yet explicitly clear whether all players knew about the bug’s exploitation in either series. Heroic has faced massive criticism over the last few months, and their efforts to shift public opinion may prove useless if these documents are confirmed.
