GMHikaru receives Twitch ban after watching Dr Disrespect play chess

The reason behind the ban is Hikaru watching a chess match between Dr Disrespect and DrLupo, who are now both streaming on YouTube with the former being permanently banned by Twitch. Hikaru himself didn’t seem to be bothered all too much about the possibility of being banned, reassuring his fans that he just wants to watch the chess match and that he doesn’t care about a ban. Hikaru eventually did end up getting a ban a little over a week later.

Hikaru went on to tweet about the ban, basically saying that he thought watching Dr Disrespect was now allowed following the two parties settling their legal issues. “The Doc tweeted that things are settled with twitch… . Guess he was wrong. See everyone in 3 days.” Asmongold reacted to the situation as well. “This seems weird considering dozens of streamers (including me) watched both the Ice Poseidon NFT scam controversy videos and reacted to Doc’s studio drama regarding NFTs. The rules are clearly not black and white and 3 days for not understanding an unstated nuance seems unfair.”

It’s the first ban Hikaru has ever gotten and he’ll return to Twitch in three days. According to the Twitch guidelines it is still forbidden to watch a suspended user, even though there’s a little nuance. “It is prohibited to use your channel to knowingly feature or advertise a suspended user. We understand that there may be instances where suspended users may appear on your stream due to circumstances beyond your control, such as through third-party gaming tournaments.”
