G2 Esports pulls ahead in latest clash versus Fnatic – Rogue remains undefeated

Both Fnatic and G2 Esports came into the 2022 LEC Spring Split with drastically different rosters. Though both maintained several core players, Fnatic assembled a ‘super team’ by adding Humanoid and Razork while G2 took a chance on several rookie players. After several weeks of play, the two storied organizations finally met once again to add the latest chapter of ‘el classico.’

G2 Esports still on top

Up until this week found itself staunchly in the middle of the pack, though have since shot up to second place after its win versus Fnatic. The 37-minute game was a solid win from the G2 squad, as returning midlaner Caps quickly accured a significant lead in his lane. Once into the team fight stage, G2’s bottom lane duo and toplaner in Broken Blade aided in securing the win.

This was certainly one of Fnatic’s worst showings yet. The team had surged in the first weeks of the LEC but have quickly found their first two losses in rapid succession. Finally challenged with fellow top tier teams, Fnatic faltered.

Will Rogue go 9-0?

Rogue have been one of the most shocking teams in the LEC, as the team has remained undefeated and appeared as the strongest squad in Europe. Both new additions, Comp and Malrang, who were not originally thought of as dominant players, have become invaluable to this new Rogue lineup. In the past week, Rogue managed to hand Fnatic its first loss while also defeating Vitality.

As Rogue will face Excel and G2 Esports, it seems likely that Rogue will go the first round robin undefeated. Few have shown the cohesion and synergy Rogue has had thus far.
