EMEA VCT matches and Apex Legends Global Series postponed following situation in Ukraine

Riot Games announced that they’ll be postponing the third week of matches in the 2022 EMEA VALORANT Champions Tour, due to concerns about the welfare of their community. It’s unclear when these matches will be played. “After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone VCT EMEA Week 3 games. Our community’s welfare is integral to us and at this time, our number one priority is to support the players, casters, staff and fans affected by the escalating crisis in Ukraine.”

Apex Legends Esports came out with a similar decision, opting to postpone all the matches of the ALGS in light of the current situation. They similarly haven’t decided on when competition will resume but will share more information soon. “In light of the events unfolding in Ukraine, we are pausing all ALGS competitions. We will provide an update for when tournaments will resume as soon as we can.”

Many Ukrainian and Russian players have already spoken out about their current situation, which led many fans to request for competitions to be postponed. FPX player Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov who is from Ukraine shared some information on his current situation. “Today most of Ukrainians including me woke up because of explosions and I do not want anyone to experience this ever. I’m extremely proud of our army, our government and our people. We managed to stay calm and fight back.Have no idea how it will end but we should stay united.”
