Are Vitality out of the playoff race? – MAD Lions defeat Rogue in a LEC Finals rematch

The playoff race is getting even tighter as Vitality fall. Meanwhile, MAD Lions took down Rogue once again.

Vitality, SK Gaming, Astralis, and Excel are all fighting for the final playoff spot after G2 officially locked in their spot. The race was primarily thought to be in Vitality’s favor considering their stacked lineup. A loss against Excel however has thrown the LEC in peril, and may be in Astralis’ favor now. Meanwhile, Rogue had a rematch against the team that stole away their LEC Championship chances.

Vitality chokes against Excel – Could XL take the final spot?

This matchup had massive playoff implications, and Excel’s eventual victory have drastically increased Excel’s chances of making it the postseason for the first time in the organization’s history. While Vitality may have taken the lead in the midgame off of an Excel misplay at Baron, Mark “Markoon” van Woensel’s performance turned the game around once more.

Though taking plenty of risky engages on Diana, Markoon eventually found the game winning engage that lead to Excel’s 27-minute win. Though Vitality are not out of the playoff race yet, their path is certainly more difficult now.

MAD Lions still have Rogue’s number

Rogue have looked impressively strong nearly all season long, though MAD Lions have continued to be a sore point for them. Rogue managed to build an impressive gold lead against MAD in the early game, peaking at 7K in their favor. MAD Lions simply drafted a better all-around team fighting composition.

MAD Lions managed to snowball their neutral objective control into a dragon soul before Rogue got priority of even one dragon. MAD perfectly played against Rogue’s macro focused style and came out victorious. Though experiencing a ‘slump’ after MSI, MAD Lions seem to be hitting their stride at the right time.
