Free-to-play shooter Crucible will go back to closed beta. Its studio, Amazon-owned Relentless Studios, admitted to releasing the game before it was ready and will go back on working on the game through feedback from the community and players.
Crucible didn’t have the most spectacular launch in May, as it failed to stand out from other already popular free-to-play titles. In the past month Relentless Studios already removed the Battle Royale and Deathmatch mode so they could focus more on the Heart of the Hives mode. To further improve the game, the studio now decided to go back to closed beta.
We’re back with another developer update: we’re taking Crucible into closed beta starting tomorrow. Read about the details and how you can participate in the beta here: https://t.co/ox5KG7Fr55

Relentless Studios released a blog post talking about the changes they’ll be making, what players can expect and why they decided to go back to a closed beta. “Starting tomorrow, Crucible is moving to closed beta. We’ll continue following the roadmap we laid out previously and working on map, combat and system changes to improve the Heart of the Hives experience as well as implementing other improvements based on your feedback and what we think the game needs in order to thrive.”

Players won’t notice a big change, except for the studio being more involved with the community through channels like Discord. Relentless Studios also ask players to keep engaging with the game. “You’re still welcome to stream, to share screenshots and clips, and to talk about what you experience in the beta.”
