Activision squashes rumors of a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remaster

After quite a build-up in rumors between the fans, Activision has now officially come out to say a Modern Warfare 3 remaster does not exist.

An Activision spokesperson said that “a remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect.”

Fans were hoping the third installment in the Modern Warfare trilogy would get some remaster love, like the two previous titles in the series.

Modern Warfare 3 introduced the community to some new multiplayer concepts like the Specialist Strike Package. The campaign had some iconic missions that included defending New York from the Russians.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare got remastered and bundled into Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare all the way back in 2016. That remaster featured both the single-player campaign and all of the multiplayer modes.

Modern Warfare 2 saw some love in 2020 when the campaign was released as a standalone with Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone.

It doesn’t seem like Activision is planning on any more remaster titles and looks to be focusing on the known path of creating a yearly premium title, to support that into Warzone.
