CS:GO has no shortage of weapons that do damage. From one-tap rifles to spraying machines, the buy menu offers high-damage weapons for different play styles and at different price points. There’s a lot to consider when purchasing at the start of the round. This includes your current economic status, your team’s loadout, and your personal preference. Here is our list of the best, highest-damage guns in CS:GO
AWP – The gold standard of the full-buy
Nothing else could possibly top the list but the AWP. The AWP is a one-hit kill, but the high-price tag often makes the weapon an expensive gamble. The AWP is often reserved for full-buy rounds only, and typically does not exceed two per team. The rifle is the best in the game at anchoring down sites and punishing greedy peaks, but it is not well-suited for every situation. Often other rifles can fill the same need and is less punishing for those with less than stellar aim. When the AWP is in the hands of a capable player though, there is no better weapon.
AK-47 – The T-side secret weapon
Among assault riflers, the AK-47 is unmatched. T-side is often burdened with having to make the first pushes, but the AK-47 is the perfect tool for the job. Despite your opponent’s armor, a one-tap to the head is enough to down any enemy. Spraying should only be reserved for close-quarters situations or through smokes, as the weapon is rather volatile in this regard despite having high damage. At a relatively lower price point, the AK-47 should be your go to on T-side, and as a CT never hesitate to pick one up as well.
M4A4 – The CT staple
The M4A4 is the CT equivalent of the AK-47, though slightly different in several aspects. It is a more versatile option due to its superior accuracy, making it better for sprays. Though with relatively high damage, the rifle lacks the one-tap potential of the AK-47 and will require significantly more shots. Still, in terms of pure damage output this is still the best rifle available for CTs on a full buy round.
Desert Eagle – The most bang for your buck
Low buy or full eco rounds are most often an resignation to a loss, however the Desert Eagle (or Deagle) makes it far more contentious. Though a pistol, the damage dealt by the deagle is higher than most SMGs, LMGs, and assault rifles. It does not have a particularly high rate of fire, but the damage per bullet is worth the relatively minimal investment.
UMP – The cheap option
SMGs are not the most popular option in CS:GO, but they serve a very specific purpose. When you’re a eco or partial buy round, this is potentially the best option. With fast rate of fires, decent accuracy from short to mid range, and surprisingly high damage makes it a very versatile weapon. Though SMGs are not the best option for full buy rounds, this can help you skate by less advantageous situations.
