Chinese Dota 2 team Vici Gaming took the DreamLeaguue Season 11 trophy after a very contested series against the Russians Virtus.pro.
Over the course of the last 10 days, we witnessed some of the top teams fall early on in Stockholm. Examples of that were Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Mineski and more. The top six teams near the end were Vici Gaming, Fnatic, PSG.LGD, Keen Gaming, Team Secret and Virtus.pro. Secret knocked out Keen Gaming, while VP eliminated PSG.LGD. Meanwhile in the upper bracket, Vici took the series with a 2-1 score versus Fnatic.
The Russian bears managed to beat their biggest rival in the face of Team Secret and secured a spot to the lower bracket finals where Fnatic awaited. The last time VP and Fnatic met was back in the upper bracket, where the SEA team dominated the Russians with a 2-0.
The final showdown was between VP and Vici Gaming. The two teams traded game after game and it was up to the last showdown to decide the winner. The fifth and final match was dominated by the Chinese, who, despite having a Medusa in their lineup, managed to take a good early lead. Ironically, it was also the shortest game of the series, ending 21 minutes in. Vici Gaming snowballed their advantage and took the title of champions.
Virtus.pro weren’t an easy opponent by any means – they made it to the finals of every Major this season. Vici Gaming went from zero to hero, winning the Kiev Minor and securing a spot for Stockholm, then winning the Major itself. Without a doubt, Vici Gaming are the team standing out in the Chinese region as PSG.LGD have been dethroned for some time now. VG grabbed $350 000 in prize money along with 4950 DPC points taking the third place in the overall ranking right after Virtus.pro and Team Secret.
