Rise of Shadows is Hearthstone's next expansion

The League of E.V.I.L assembles to assault the floating city of Dalaran in the brand-new set of Hearthstone cards.

The first expansion in the year of the Dragon is here and its name is Rise of Shadows. Check out the trailer here:

For the first time in Hearthstone history, the three sets will be connected in one overarching story. This time, the tables are turned and we are about to embark on a journey with the villains from the previous expansions – Rafaam from The League of Explorers, Dr. Boom from Goblins vs. Gnomes and The Boomsday Project, Hagatha the Witch from the Witchwood, the Kobold King from Kobolds and Catacombs and a new character, the fortuneteller Madame Lazul.

On top of tons of story and flavor, the new set will bring hundreds of new cards and mechanics:

New keyword cards will allow you to do crazy things such as Twinspell, which will allow you to cast a spell twice (kind of like Echo, but only cloning the card once), and Schemes, which will upgrade every turn they remain in your hand.

Other mechanics are callbacks from older expansions such as the “spend all your mana crystals” from Whispers of the Old Gods.

The story is said to begin in the skies of the magic city of Dalaran and end up in “ancient depths” which possibly means the realm of lady Azshara – a dream come true for veteran fans of World of Warcraft.
