mibr survive NRG in overtime at ESL Pro League Finals

Made in Brazil remain undefeated at the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals after beating NRG in three maps.

The matchup was regarded as one of the highlights of day 2 and it did not disappoint. The two squads exchanged blowout wins on each other’s maps, but interestingly enough, it was the “visitors” that ran away with the goods on enemy turf.

NRG were looking good to complete the comeback on Mirage after they had lost on Overpass to start the match. A 10-5 CT half was extended to 15-12 and three match points. Made in Brazil are considered the most serious threat to Astralis right now for a reason though. They refused to go down and pushed matters to overtime, which took its toll on the more inexperienced NRG squad and resulted in convincing rounds for mibr on both sides of the map in OT, and the 19-16 victory.

Playing at the same time, Renegades continued their improvement since losing 16-5 to HellRaisers in worrying fashion at the start of the event. The Australians eliminated ViCi Gaming yesterday and did the same to BIG today, beating the Germans 2-1. Not only did Renegades win, but they did so convincingly on Cache and Train, with a narrow 16-14 loss on Overpass in between. It’s fair to say RNG are picking up steam and whoever’s going to face them next should avoid underestimating the boys from down under.

RNG’s next opponent will be decided in the HellRaisers – G2 matchup. Made in Brazil, meanwhile, will be watching Natus Vincere and mousesports go at each other for the privilege of playing against the Americans in the Group B upper bracket final.
