Golden Guardians find first win against OpTic

After four straight losses, Golden Guardians are finally on the board, having defeated OpTic Gaming in the closing game on Saturday.

The last game of the day saw Karthus return to his original home in the mid-lane, courtesy of Henrik “Froggen” Hansen. The Danish veteran was killed for first blood in a gank 11 minutes in, but the early game stayed close, even after OpTic took the tower in his lane several minutes later. Despite taking a second one shortly afterwards, they were unable to build a significant lead in gold and tempo, and GGS eventually came out ahead after picking two kills and a second infernal dragon in a skirmish 23 minutes in.

27 minutes, Golden Guardians started the baron, before turning to fight OpTic and killing Niship “Dhokla” Doshi and Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon. With a two-man advantage and a lot of their opponents' damage removed, they returned to the dragon, eventually securing it alongside a kill on William “Meteos” Hartman's Kha'Zix. Now firmly in the lead and having a baron buff to boot, GGS pushed OpTic back and cracked the middle inhibitor 31 minutes in before rotating to the top lane to take another one. A kill on Lee “Crown” Min-ho sealed the deal, and OpTic were soon 3v5 and could do nothing to save their Nexus.

This is Golden Guardians' first win of the season, and while they still did not look like the strong team many were expecting, they are finally on the board. With five teams sitting at 2-3, another win would put Golden Guardians well in the mix despite their horrible start.
