Fnatic recorded a second win in the New Legends stage of FACEIT Major, edging out Vega Squadron 16-14 on Inferno.
The Swedes have made it somewhat of a tradition to start off bad on this map in London. They had actually won the opening rounds in their previous two outings against compLexity and Winstrike, just to go on and lose the half both times. Well, if they thought losing the pistol would lead to the opposite effect, they were wrong. Seven straight in the Vega column brought flashbacks of the 4-16 drubbing by compLexity two days ago, but damage control in the last few rounds set fnatic at 5 and with a chance to make something happen on their T side.
As it happened against Winstrike yesterday, the second half was all fnatic. The Swedes mounted a comeback following a pistol win. Vega were refusing to roll over and managed to tie the game at 14 after losing their initial lead. Fnatic’s higher level of experience showed through when it mattered. The Swedish side completed the comeback in regulation and are now a win away from a playoff spot. Vega are in a slightly worse position. With a 1-2 record they cannot lose another game this week if they want to be around for the next.
