Dendi to play against Na’Vi

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin will be facing some of his old teammates from Natus Vincere in the ongoing Autumn Brawl.

Team Secret received a direct invitation to the playoffs of the Autumn Brawl, but their mid player Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng was missing from the action. Since Midone took a break to rest from recent tournaments, Secret had to find a temporary replacement, so they hinted at who that might be in a recent tweet. Quick speculation pointed to no other than Dendi to become the stand-in for Secret, and this was confirmed on the following day. The move made sense since the team’s captain Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and Danil shared a lot of common history as well as friendship to this day.

Fans were hoping to witness a match between Team Secret and Natus Vincere and it looks like they’ll get what they wanted. The Ukrainian organization made it through the group stage with a 2-0 and have already eliminated Team Lithium, securing their spot at the quarterfinals. The upcoming fight will essentially be a battle of the old versus new Na`Vi. You could even argue that the current lineup of Team Secret represents more of Na`Vi than the org’s current roster as four of their players have only recently joined it, while only Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev has previous experience in the squad. Secret, on the other hand, combine two old-school winners of The International 2011, who made Na`Vi’s fame skyrocket even in the following years. Dendi competing against his former team was unprecedented so far as he hasn’t played for anything else but Na`Vi during his professional Dota 2 career. Needless to say, including the return of Ishutin in the Autumn Brawl will surely increase viewership for the event.

Sadly “fountain hooks” are no longer a thing, but we still might see some wild plays from the iconic duo. Who do you think will prevail in the end, the two veterans or Na`Vi’s newly formed roster?
