XM4 banned from the CDL

The XM4 joins a growing list of guns, perks, and other items GA’ed by the CDL

Only a day after Atlanta FaZe’s Major victory that claimed the first championship of 2021, a massive change has come to the CDL. The assault rifle, the XM4, has been GA’ed by the player’s association and will be removed from competitive play in the CDL. This is a full gentleman’s agreement, meaning that any use of the weapon would be considered an outright violation and will sweep across the amateur and professional scenes.

Considering that the XM4 has had a constant presence in the pro scene since the dawn Blacks Ops: Cold War, this change will have huge ramifications. Players like FormaL, Dashy, Huke, Diamondcon, and more who are primarily AR players simply will not be able to have the same playmaking ability. The Krieg is likely to replace the XM4 as the go-to rifle, however, the Krieg notoriously offers a slower rate of fire and significantly less damage.

Pros and fans alike have criticized the decision to remove the XM4 from the CDL. Many claim that alternatives to banning the rifle exist, like limiting the number of XM4s allowed on a team. Others have challenged the concept of the GA as in the same day the Muzzle Break 5.56 and Spetsnaz Compensator on the AK-74u also joined the growing list.

Joining all sniper rifles, the KSP 45, AK-47, 1911 pistol, and magnum pistol in the list of weapons GA’ed it certainly seems like the pool of ARs are slowly dwindling.
