Worlds 2020 Finals to have a live audience

Even though the play-in, group and most of the knock-out stage are played without a live audience present, the Worlds 2020 Grand Final (October 31) will feature an audience of over 6000 people. The information was released by the LPL on their Weibo account, a popular Chinese social media platform.

The finals will fall under certain restrictions given by the government but in total there will be 6312 seats made available for the audience, which will be given out through a lottery system that was designed by Riot Games. Fans that want a chance to grab one of the tickets will have to enter the lottery, which will be open from October 12 until October 14. If you want to participate, you’ll need a Chinese phone number and at least a level 30 League of Legends account.

No physical tickets will be given out but the audience will be shown their seats through their ID and face recognition, which makes sure there’s no reselling of the seats. In the Pudong Football Stadium, where the finals will be held, seats will be far enough apart to ensure social distancing rules.

Originally Worlds 2020 would visit multiple big Chinese cities but due to the COVID-19 pandemic that wasn’t possible anymore. At least the finals will offer some lucky people a chance to experience Worlds, with a live performance of the Worlds Theme Song alongside a performance by K/DA.
