World of Warcraft Shadowlands delayed

Blizzard has announced a delay for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Shadowlands. The expansion is now scheduled to “later this year”.

World of Warcraft fans were already suspicious when the pre-launch patch of World of Warcraft Shadowlands was delayed. Now their worst fears have become true as the developers moved the release date of Shadowlands to “later this year”.

Additional time required

In their statement John Hight, Executive Prodcuer of WoW, cited the need to properly polish and balance the endgame of the expansion. In addition to their commitment to quality Blizzard also said that the current pandemic also pushed the schedule back as the team had to adjust to remote work.

While a concrete release date for Shadowlands was not revealed, Hight said that the Shadowlands pre-patch will be deployed on October 13. The patch will include the revamped character leveling, new-player experience on Exile’s Reach and new character customisation options.

Mixed Reactions

The community showed mixed reactions to the annoucement. While some applauded the team and encouraged Blizzard to take all the time they require, others were upset or disappointed as they had taken leave from work in preperation of the old launch date of October 27.

We will keep you informed if a release date is announced in the coming days and weeks.
