These are the winners from the first day of the CDL Major

The first day of CDL’s major started in the loser’s bracket as Toronto, London, Seattle, and Florida all fought to stay in the tournament.
Toronto scrapes by

Toronto Ultra’s series against the London Ravens went the full five-game distance. Ultra won their first map convincingly but the Ravens were able to win their first SND map of the year in game 2 on Garrison. Bance was able to redeem the Toronto squad in game 3 on Raid, however as he went from going 0/8 to topfragging with an ending K/D of 22/14 and facilitated their 3 – 0 sweep of the map.

Ultimately, this was one of London’s best performances of the year, but unfortunately, it came in their elimination game. London’s substitute, Zed, proved to be the MVP of game 4 as he held the highest overall Hardpoint time with 1:57. If London elects to keep Zed on their starting roster they certainly could turn into a serious threat given more time to develop synergy. Toronto Ultra won but played incredibly inconsistently across this series and need to clean up their performance if they hope to stay alive and keep their loser’s bracket run dreams alive.

Owakening and Skyz pull Mutineers ahead

The first two games of this series looked promising for Seattle Surge as they only lost by 15 points in their first match on Hardpoint. In what would be Seattle’s sole win of the series, Looney led Seattle to a narrow 6 -5 win with his consistent entry frag ability and opened the opportunity for Seattle to equalize the series. Prestini had an early 5 spree in game 3 on Raid that gave Seattle their best start in the series. Owakening had other plans however and turned the whole game around for Florida.

Going on several 4 sprees, Owakening led Florida to a 3 – 0 victory on Control. The closing game of the series saw Florida maintain this level of confidence, but this time through primarily playing through Skyz. Skyz started the game off with an 11 kill tear that gave Florida  93 point head start on Raid. Seattle managed to keep the final game competitive as Gunless and Octane almost closed the gap but Skyz was truly the difference-maker, finishing 32/13.
