Update: Warzone release season 5 trailer and announce release date

As Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War are entering season 5, we’ve now got a first glimpse at it all through a brand new trailer.

The brand new trailer promises a lot of exciting changes coming to Warzone, with a whole heap of new content and perhaps even some changes to the map we’ve come quite accustomed to. In the trailer a brand new character (the leaked operator?) is seen hacking a base, which didn’t go over well with some people who again pointed out that Activision and Treyarch have been quite lacklustre when dealing with the countless hackers.

One of the things we can finally say for sure now is that the release date for the next season, which is coming in the form of a free content update, will be August 12. As we’re nearing the next edition of Call of Duty, which supposedly is making a return to World War II again, chances are we’re also nearing the final season of Verdansk and Warzone as we know it today. In any case, with all the criticism the game has received recently, a big overhaul is imminent.

As Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 is nearing the end of its run, it’s time to look forward to season 5. However, what can we expect (and when can we expect it)?
When will Season 5 get started?

There’s no official date for the start of Season 5 as of yet, but looking at previous seasons and the expiration date of the Battle Pass, we can make an educated guess. As the Battle Pass for this season (Season 4) is set to end on August 9, we should be able to say that season 5 will be starting very close to that date. Most guesses and rumors have put the date on August 12 for now.

New operator and theme

There’s not a lot we know about season 5 yet, but in a recent leak we allegedly did get a look at a brand new operator. According to the leak, the new operator will be named ‘Kitsune’, sporting dual-wield weapons (Tec-9) and having a Japanese heritage. The leaks also speculated that the entire Season 5 will be Japanese-themed as well and that the story surrounding the Waronze Red Doors will be continued.

Furthermore the leaker talks about the possibility of a new region for Outbreak called Weather Station. This region contains one of the classic Black Ops maps, namely Summit, which was a popular 6v6 map which featured lots of close-quarters combat. As they’re leaks, none of this info is confirmed yet.

Map changes and weapons

When it comes to weapons, we should see at least a few new ones as has been the case in the previous seasons as well. Looking at the themes of the weapons we got so far, it’s most likely we will get a tactical rifle, shotgun or sniper, but there’s still the possibility of another SMG, LMG or AR. When considering the earlier leaks, the Tec-9 machine pistol should already be a likely candidate.

We might also get a couple of map changes this time around, something we haven’t seen a lot of in season 4. As the new Call of Duty title is releasing in November, chances are this is the last full season of Verdansk, with speculation that we might be getting a map themed around World War II.
