Vivo Keyd sees win against Acend overturned due to exploit abuse – drops to lower bracket

Vivo Keyd was feeling on top of the world after beating Acend in their opening game at VCT Champions. At least for a while.

Only a couple of hours after the match ended, Riot Games punished Vivo Keyd for using a Cypher cam exploit, effectively awarding the win to Acend.

Originally, the intense three map series concluded on Breeze, where VK ran away with the victory with a 13-8 score line. Riot learned that Jonathan “JhoW” Glória used an exploit with his Cypher camera, gaining an advantage over his opponents. Because of these findings, Riot awarded seven rounds to Acend. One for each round JhoW used the exploit, plus one extra, flipping the score to a 13-9 win for Acend.

A blemish on an otherwise entertaining opening game for both teams, Vivo Keyd did show they came to play. The players showed their team can be a dark horse for a top finish. While much of the focus lies on the NA and EU teams at Champions, VK could make a deep run.

Brazilian fans are known to be passionate to a fault and were quick to get the hashtag #justiceforkeyd trending, as they felt their region was being sabotaged to give an EMEA team a free win. A similar exploit in a game between Sentinels and Furia was brought up, and Riot Games was asked to be “consistent” in their ruling.

The initial ruling sadly isn’t available anymore on the valorantesports site, but comments on Twitter suggest Riot did answer a lot of questions regarding the ruling.
