Valve shares more details regarding the 2021 DOTA Pro Circuit

Valve has provided more details on the upcoming 2021 DOTA Pro Circuit in a blogpost, giving some updates on leagues and tournaments we get to look forward to. DOTA fans will welcome the news after missing out on quite a lot of DOTA action in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021 the competition will consist of 2 seasons that lead up to The International 10. Each of these seasons will take place over six weeks leading up to a Major. When the seasons have concluded teams will be playing qualifiers for the remaining slots that are still open for The International 10, which will play out in August of 2021.

Season 1 will take place from January 18 to February 28, with the first Major being played from March 25 to April 4. Timing for China will be a little different for Season 1, with a small break between these six weeks of play. Season 2 on the other hand takes place from April 13 to May 23, with the second Major running from June 2 to June 13.

Valve also gave a little update on DPC points and seeding. “Given that several teams experienced a lot of roster changes throughout the year and performance has varied among teams from the previous DPC season, we will not be using previous season’s DPC points as a way to seed teams into the leagues but rather selecting the top 4 teams in best form from each region to be directly qualified to the Upper division, while a series of qualifiers, closed and open, will determine the remaining 12 teams in both divisions.”

More information regarding seeding and tournament organizers can be found in the blog post.
