VALORANT: Riot announces VCT Game Changers to create opportunities for women and marginalized genders

Riot Games announced the launch of the VALORANT Champions Tour Game Changers to help and create opportunities for women and marginalized genders in VALORANT.

“VALORANT Champions Tour Game Changers is a program and initiative to provide experience and a spotlight to elevate the women in the competitive VALORANT community.” according to senior director of esports at Riot Whalen Rozell. The VCT Game Changers will offer both women and marginalized genders an opportunity to compete in tournaments and competitive ladder play, with Riot Games stressing the importance of diversity.

Rozell goes on to say that Riot Games is working to better the environment for players. “Competing in games as a woman can be a daunting task, oftentimes resulting in a very real competitive disadvantage. While we are taking steps to address this in-game with improvements to chats, voice-comms and griefing, we think there’s another cool step we can take.”
