VALORANT: Raze nerfed to have more counterplay

Valorant has been a smash hit in the esports scene. A tasteful mix of Overwatch and Counterstrike: Global Offensive, Riot’s new free to play game has been embraced by a variety of teams and big streamers. However, as per usual in multiplayer games, some of the characters aren’t quite as balanced as the community feels they should be.

Raze is one of the most fun agents to play in Valorant, with her explosive-based kit, flashy ultimate and unorthodox movement patterns. Playing against her isn’t nearly as enjoyable or interactive. While Valorant is a game where you can get blown up in just shy of a second, Raze her effective area of effect damage can be so oppressive that any gunfight is unwinnable from the start.

Despite her already receiving several nerfs throughout the beta, Rioter Ryan “Morello” Scott has stated that Raze is still a little bit too strong on his stream. The main issue seems to be her ultimate, which is a prime tool for grabbing multikills or win fights without any counterplay. Her movement is not on the chopping block, as this was identified as one of the main reasons for playing Raze.

The exact changes are still to be determined. Patch 1.04, releasing somewhere next week, will show us exactly how everyone’s least favorite explosive expert is getting nerfed.

Do you think these Raze nerfs are justified? Are there any other characters that should be on the chopping block? Join the discussion on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or our Discord!
