VALORANT Patch 2.04 brings updated tactical voice over and ranked rework

As the newest VALORANT patch 2.04 is dropping soon, alongside their new agent Astra, let’s take a look at everything we can expect going forward.

Possibly one of the biggest things to come to VALORANT in the latest patch is the slight ranked rework. To make rank a little more meaningful, players will now retain their rank at the start of a new act, allowing players who worked hard to achieve their rank to now not have to grind for it again. Yet, your rank rating will see a hit, meaning that you could still get demoted depending on your early results. Top players will find themselves facing top competition sooner, while giving the higher rankings a little more prestige. Riot plans to bring more tweaks to ranked rating and MMR gained later on.

Another thing that’s coming to the game is an improvement to tactical voice over, which is a way for players that don’t use a microphone to more easily communicate with their teammates. These callouts, such as when planting the spike at the bomb site, will be made more specific and will give a better idea of area and location. Players who wish not to use it, can disable it.

Finally, the patch also brings some much needed fixes. Earlier Riot Games discussed the exploit of camping in the elevators on Bind during Escalation, which they fixed by having the doors remain open.
