VALORANT makes changes to pick order, introduce cascading agent picks

Designer of VALORANT Jon Walker talked about the new pick system during the most recent VALORANT livestream, in response to tackling the issue the game faces with players insta-locking agents. All the players in a match will get to select their agent one by one and if they haven’t picked on time, they’ll get a chance to pick their agent later on in the pick order. As for when the system is being implemented, the developers are looking towards a release around act II or III, so we’ll still have to wait a while.

Many VALORANT players have been vocal about the issue of teammates insta-locking agents at the start of the game, as it can be pretty annoying at times. It might throw of the team composition and make a match harder to play or it might limit certain people in getting the chance to play their favorite agent.

Other topics that got mentioned during the livestream were the confirmation of a Yoru rework, as the agent has struggled ever since he was released into the game. The rework would be planned for early 2022. Finally they talked about a chat filter, which lets players mute certain words in chat, combatting toxicity in the process.
