Ubisoft’s new Battle Royale explained – What is Hyper Scape?

Ubisoft has revealed a new contender for the Battle Royale throne. Their newest game Hyper Scape has taken Twitch by storm with over 450,000 viewers on the first day.
A new challenger from Ubisoft

Ever since PUBG and Fortnite popularized the Battle Royale genre many games have been released trying to emulate that success. EA joined in with Apex Legends, while Activision released Call of Duty: Warzone to a booming market.

Set in the urban land scape of Neo Arcadia offers players intense firefights across a sprawling city. With extremely dynamic movement the new Battle Royale offers plenty of chances for skilled players to outmaneuver their opponents.

A fresh twist for the genre

Although the basic premises of the Battle Royale genre are also followed in Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s entry offers a fresh twist to the formula. With plenty of players (or three player squads) engaged in a Free-For-All in a slowly shrinking zone, use of unique abilities named “Hacks” in Hyper Scape are the key to victory. Hacks are spread across the map and need to be picked up akin to weapons in Hyper Scape. These abilities come in a wide variety: Some enable scanning for opponents others grant you the ability to become invisible. Along with the weapons you can also freely combine and improve Hacks in Hyper Scape through Fusion.

Hyper Scape also introduces a different way of victory to Battle Royales. Instead of just being the last man (squad) standing, players can also win if they secure the “Crown” during endgame and keep hold of it for 45 seconds.

Built-in Crowncast Twitch extension

Developed in conjunction with Twitch, Ubisoft also introduces the Crowncast Twitch extension to Hyper Scape. Viewers will be able to interact with live matches by voting for events like “Low Gravity” or other matchwide changes that require quick thinking to adapt to.

If you want to try out Hyper Scape, you can try to take part in the current Technical Test that features the playable game until July 7. The test encompasses the Crown Rush gamemode in squads and will alter also include the Dark Haze solo mode. The lucky participants will also be able to carry over their progress into the final live version of Hyper Scape.
