TSM president under fire after leak on Doublelift stream
Team SoloMid’s (TSM) co-owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh issued an apology to League of Legends player Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett. Details about his possible departure from the organization were leaked live on Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng’s stream by TSM president Aileena “Leena” Xu.
“That’s not up to me, like for example, no one wants to pick up Dardoch. That’s not my fault.” With this statement, Xu commented on the attempted transfer of TSM’s jungler Dardoch. However that was not supposed to go public: Unbeknownst to her she could be heard in the background of Doublelift’s Twitch stream on May 11.
The harsh statement triggered much criticism in the LoL community, as this sensitive piece of information was leaked in such an unprofessional manner, disrespecting Dardoch’s privacy.
Apologies from TSM management
Xu offered her apologies to Dardoch in a TwitLonger post: “I’d like to make an apology to our community and to Dardoch over my lapse of judgement on handling an important call next to a live stream. No one wants their private information leaked and it’s not fair to Dardoch that this happened.“
She takes full responsibility for this mistake and wishes him all the best for his future. TSM co-owner Reginald also felt the need to release a statement. “I want to personally apologize to our community for how we’ve managed the communication of Dardoch’s transfer.” In his opinion, TSM didn’t “live up” to their standards and mishandled the situation tremendously.
He also defended Xu, who received many hostile, misogynist comments. Although being disappointed in her, Reginald is convinced of her abilities as one of the first TSM members.
He dismisses claims that her position at TSM is related to their past relationship or that Doublelift’s comeback was. Reginald explains: “Both Leena and Peter are also the very best candidates for their positions. In my opinion as the leader of this organization, there is no financial benefit or working benefit from their relationship.“
Doublelift warned Xu
A few days before the leak, the TSM pro was told by viewers of his channel they could hear his girlfriend in the background. Doublelift informed Xu immediately about it, asking her if she was “talking about something sensitive”.
It seems the Dardoch incident was avoidable, had the couple taken any measures then and there. Both Doublelift and Dardoch have been silent of the matter as yet.
For Dardoch, this revelation is a disaster, which could potentially lower his leverage in future negotiations, as he’s been exposed to not have any other options. This could lead to a considerable financial disadvantage for him.
